About virtuAMP - NemPosted: Jul 4th, 2007 - 3:10:16 pm
About:

virtuAMP is an open source real time virtual guitar amplifier for your home computer. virtuAMP provides an intuitive interface for customizing your sound through a virtual pedalboard, which behaves as your existing guitar rig does, allowing you to place effect pedals, connect them using cables and control their sound using their controls. Your guitar connects directly to virtuAMP through your sound card's line in, making virtuAMP a good substitute for a practice amplifier.

Being nit-picky I know, but according to the W3C validator, this page doesn't actually validate. Something to do with your nested list, I think. The nested list probably has to be wrapped in an <li> element.

We need some sort of conversion or special jack lead for this?
coz my standard guitar to amp lead wont go into my sound card (Durr :P)

I know my mate has this wierd thing you put on the end of your jack to turn it into a 2.5/3.5mm jack instead which would make it fit, but i've no idea where to buy one, how'd you plug your guitar in nem?

Loving all your tools btw, just registerd.theforce

NICE!!! This is one of best RTAS i ever tryed!!! Bit problem is latency! Is there any way to fix that?headphones

7. NemPosted: Nov 18th, 2007 - 3:07:04 pm
The latency is ultimately determined by the speed of your computer and the quality of your audio card. In order to reduce the latency, you may try playing around with the settings in the Audio menu. Specifically, try increasing the Buffer Denominator, this is one over the target latency in seconds. You may also be able to achieve a higher denominator by changing your Driver.

Tnx!!! Its better now! yeahbaby But did u considered WDM streaming? i had good experience with it i the past, no latency at all!
I have
AMD Athlon 64X2 dual core 4200+
2GB of Kingston RAM
Biostar GF 7900 GS theforce
Biostar TForce m570 motherboard( i use integrated soundcard)
Realtec Audio drivers(newest)
And Ibanez RG (Japaneese) with Rolland custom humbuckers and 0.10 strings.

Hi Nem,

love your virtuAMP. I am working on a program similar to yours. I am using ASIO audio drivers for even lower latency than in virtuAMP. So my question is what literature did you use to write a functions like reverb, distortion, flanger...? Is there some site with math formulas what to use?

Thx in advance

Harmony Central has some good articles explaining various common effects. Other than that, I just read up on how each effect is typically implemented (in hardware) and tried to replicate it.

The source code for virtuAMP is also available, you may want to look at it.

I'm pretty sure this isn't included, but maybe you could include a metronome or click track pedal in the next version. It'd be a nice addition for rythem and what-not.

Will do. free

it would be great if this software was available as a VST plugin

15. CapnJackPosted: Jan 13th, 2009 - 12:07:03 pm
Have you ever considered adding ASIO driver support?

when i click on the RECORD buton....nothing happens. what am i doing wrong ?
isn't this supposed to record and save whatever i play ?
maybe i'm missunderstang this...wouldn't be the first time..lol

19. MabanPosted: Feb 15th, 2009 - 11:52:25 pm
Have you specified a file that it will record to?

20. philipearlwilliamsModified: Feb 17th, 2009 - 2:51:23 am
when i click on the AUDIO button the window opens with the list of options. one of them is RECORDING PROPERTIES.
when i click on that...nothing happens. also nothing happens when i click on PLAYBACK PROPERTIES.
when i click the FILE button and then click on SAVE or SAVE AS..i can save a file as an .VAP file, this is the only file option offered....and i can open this file using AUDACITY. and importing it as RAW DATA...but this file is nothing. it is just noise and play's very fast...like zippppp..i have no idea what this is....
i hope i am explaining this ok.
i know this is not the way this program is supposed to work.
i am very new at using this virtual amp but i would like to figuar it out. sorry if i'm sounding pretty stupid.
what are the proper steps to play a tune and saving what i've played..?...that is what i need to figuar out.
thank you for any help you can give me. i really do apreciate it.
